Michaela Jaé, a.k.a. MJ, Rodriguez became the first transgender actress to be nominated for a major acting category at the 2021 Emmys, for her portrayal of Blanca Evangelista in FX's POSE.

Her nomination for Best Actress came 7 years after Laverne Cox became the first transgender actress to be nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a comedy series.
