Willmer “Little Axe” Broadnax

Willmer “Little Axe” Broadnax was an American gospel singer in the mid-20th century. He began singing as a teenager, eventually touring, finding success, and fronting his own band over the course of his career.

He moved to Los Angeles, CA with his brother, “Big Axe,” and formed a quartet called Little Axe and the Golden Echoes. He was famous for his beautiful, high-tenor riffs.

He lived as a man his entire life, the public discovery of his birth sex only made upon his death.
