Teresita la Campesina
Teresita la Campesina was a trans Latine ranchera singer, activist, and sex worker. She identified as both a man and a woman. Her performances in the Mission District of San Francisco were infused with her Mexican, queer, and Latine identities.
An outspoken sex worker, she worked with Proyecto ContraSIDA por Vida, an HIV prevention organization in the Mission founded in 1993. She helped provide healthcare to queer and Latine communities around the Bay Area.
