Sir Lady Java
Sir Lady Java is an American trans rights activist, actress, and singer. She transitioned at a young age, before moving to Los Angeles and becoming a known name in the nightclub circuit. Her performances began to be shut down by the LAPD, and she worked with the ACLU, picketing and suing to try and fight back against the local ordinance against ‘female impersonation.’
A trailblazer in the African American queer LA community, she was recognized as a Trans Pride L.A. festival guest of honor.
