Mark Aguhar was a Filipinx Transfeminine multidisciplinary artist born in Houston, Texas. Her work was first widespread via her Tumblr Blog, “CALL OUT QUEEN” which was taglined, “Blogging For Brown Gurls.”

Artwork created by Aguhar is known to be centering of gender, beauty, and existing as a racial minority. Her work is known to openly and loudly question the centering of white beauty standards of cisgender women especially to do with femininity as well questions society having white cisgender men being the center of views on gayness and queer identity. Videos, photos, paintings and poetry, Mark Aguhar’s works are a testament to living outside the gender binary, thriving outside white beauty standards, and loving yourself and your body as they are; despite societal judgment and persecution.

Since 2012 there has been a Mark Aguhar Memorial Grant for queer artists of color through Chance’s Dances.
