Felicia Elizondo
Felicia Elizondo was a transgender woman who was heavily active in the fight for LGBT rights. Born in Texas in 1946, she struggled with her gender identity for years. At 14, she moved to the Bay Area and began spending time in the Tenderloin; she was a regular at Gene Compton's Cafeteria (Compton’s Cafeteria Riots). She transitioned in 1974, working as a sex worker and performing as a drag queen.
She worked for numerous HIV prevention organizations, and combatted racism in the San Francisco queer community until her passing in 2021.
