Eleanor Rykener
Eleanor Rykener was a sex worker in the late 1300s in London, England. She was not only a sex worker, but a barmaid and notably skilled embroideress.
She was arrested in December 1394 for performing a sex act with a man while dressed as a woman. Her ensuing case has revealed much about medieval views on gender, sex, and sexuality, and has served as an insight for historians into understanding the lives of gender-nonconforming people in the era.
