Adela Vázquez was a trans Cuban American activist and performer. Immigrating from Cuba during a time of political uprising, she moved to California with the help of the Los Angeles LGBT Center, ending up in the Tenderloin. She was crowned Miss Gay Latina, and then began organizing around transgender rights.

Adela was involved with Proyecto ContraSIDA, an HIV prevention organization, and ended up on a committee of community advisors for the University of San Francisco's Department of Public Health.

She continued her activism in San Francisco and beyond until her passing in October 2024.
